This flushing box with sponge fits the Mutoh XpertJet 1641SR. During flushing and cleaning, the printhead fires ink into the box, where the sponge absorbs it so ink does not pool inside the printer, drip onto media, or splash back onto the head.
Replace it when the sponge is saturated, crusted with dried ink or overflowing, as part of routine maintenance. A clogged flushing box is a common cause of ink drips and head contamination, and a fresh box with sponge is a quick, low-cost fix. Because the box and sponge come together, you also replace any worn or ink-stained housing in one step.
